TUCSON - (KVOA) Save Our Schools Arizona sent a letter Monday to Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, statehouse leaders and Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne. The letter outlines that Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Accounts or school voucher program is nearly $23 million in the red in the just the first three months of the fiscal year. The ESA program allows Arizona families to apply for state money to enroll their children in private, religious or home schools. $624 million in the state general fund was earmarked for the voucher program in fiscal year 2024.
